Blue Beauty
Can someone please tell me what this little beauty is? I thought it was lobelia, but no, no sharp heat in the nostrils. It's mild and sweet, like a salad green. Stunning in the woods, hiding under the brush like a shy maiden!
actually, it is a lobelia - Lobelia syphilitica. As your tasting showed, it doesn't make a good substitute for Lobelia inflata (I really don't think any of the other Lobelia's I've tasted do).

Fantastic! Thanks so much! I was baffled since it is so clearly a lobelia - visually - but in such a shady spot and without any heat. I guess I have only spent the time with L Inflata, assuming other L's have heat too. silly. ~A
